Weston Dairy Campsite is a back to basics tent site on a working dairy farm above Worth Matravers, on Dorset's Jurassic Coast. The camping is one large 13 acre field where you pitch wherever you like, with grass, sea views and no marked bays. It sits on the Isle of Purbeck in South Dorset, a ten minute walk across fields from the Square and Compass pub in Worth Matravers and a short stroll from coast path routes towards Winspit, Seacombe and Dancing Ledge, with Swanage around four miles away. This is a spot for tents and small campervans only, so it does not suit touring caravans, large motorhomes or anyone wanting electric hook-ups, hardstanding or on-pitch services. Facilities are deliberately simple, with regularly cleaned portable toilets and showers rather than a permanent block, plus morning bacon rolls and hot drinks. Two dogs per pitch are welcome free of charge on leads, and the wide open field gives families and groups room to spread out. Campfires are not allowed, though contained gas barbecues raised off the ground are fine. Weston Dairy trades through the summer, taking Friday and Saturday nights only during part of June and July and opening seven days a week across the rest of the season. Prices start from £7 per adult a night, £3 per child and £5 per vehicle for the whole stay.
Yes, up to two dogs per pitch stay free of charge. They must be kept on a lead at all times around the farm and campsite, with the exception of dogs listed under the Dangerous Dogs Act. The open field and nearby coast path give plenty of room for walks.
Can you have a campfire?
No, open campfires are not permitted on the site. Gas fuelled barbecues are allowed as long as they are contained and raised off the ground, which protects the grass and the working farm around the pitches. Bring your own gas barbecue if you want to cook outdoors.
Does the site take caravans and motorhomes?
No, Weston Dairy is set up for tents and small campervans only. There are no electric hook-ups, hardstanding pitches or on-pitch services, so touring caravans and larger motorhomes cannot be accommodated. You pitch freely wherever you like on one large grass field.
How much does it cost to camp?
Prices on the operator site start from £7 per adult a night, with children under 16 charged £3 a night. Vehicles are £5 for the whole stay rather than per night. Payment and booking are handled directly with the campsite rather than through a third party.
